Teachers! We are excited to see you!

Our programs are designed to give students multiple meaningful interactions with us—before, during, and after the visit.
Below, you’ll find everything you need to prepare your students, understand what to expect during the experience, and keep the learning going afterward.

1. Before the Big Day (Most Important, Watch These videos)

Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade teachers

Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade teachers

Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade teachers

Please click the above image and share this 23 minute introductory video with your students! This doesn't spoil anything--it sets a foundation for the day of the program. This is probably the biggest predictor in how the day will go. When the kids watch it, they are so excited to come meet Nile and our team, so they are already invested in the experience. Spoiler, we talk about whale poop in the past couple minutes, so watch all the way through!

3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th grade teachers

Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade teachers

Please click the above image and share this 25-minute introductory video with your students! This doesn't spoil anything--it sets a foundation for the day of the program. This is probably the biggest predictor in how the day will go. When the kids watch it, they are so excited to come meet Nile and our team, so they are already invested in the experience. Spoiler, kids love the poop talk at the end!

2. How to Have a GREAT Experience

Hi Teachers

We are looking forward to visiting with your students in the next week or so. Please read the following tips!

Tips for having a GREAT experience!

1. Have your students watch the pre-visit video listed above. It really does make a huge difference. If you don't want the whole thing, we would love your feedback!

2. Plan on going in the whale. Please plan on coming in the whale with your students. Our experience is that your students have an easier time following our rules, as well as general school rules, in your presence. Your students will get so much more out of the experience when you join them. With that in mind, you will be sitting on the ground, so dress appropriately.

3. Please be on time for your time slot! The first 20 minutes of your time is spent going in the whale. It takes a few minutes for us to set up the experience and go over the rules for being in the whale, so please plan accordingly. (If you are 10 minutes late, we won't have time to take the kids in the whale.)

4. How can we help make this the best experience for your students! If you would like to touch base with us ahead of time to plan anything, we would love that! Feel free to email us at team@thewhalemobile.com! If you would like to schedule a time to chat with us before the visit, feel free to schedule a 15 minute chat.

3. What You Can Do After the Program?

What Can the Kids Do to Make a Difference?

Now that your students have met Nile and learned about whales, challenge them to become ocean protectors by creating their own Whale Safe Habits!

What can they do at home or in school to make a difference? Here are some ideas below.

Challenge 1

Pick up 100 pieces of trash. Below is a printable sheet that students can fill in for each piece of trash they pick up. Print out this sheet to keep track! Send us a picture when you are done!

Challenge 2

Pledge to NOT use a plastic water bottle for 3 months. Again, print your sheet and fill in each day they you DON'T use one. Of course you may use one occasionally, but this is such a great way to think about reducing your use of plastic.

Challenge 3

Gather trash from your playground, front yard if you are on a busy street, or nearby beach. The twist? Keep track of the items you collect. Print out this data card to help you keep track!

Challenge 4: Create Your Own

Perhaps you would like to make your own challenge and keep track of their progress! Here is a worksheet to walk you through it.

RESULTS

When a challenge is complete, please take a picture of it and text or email it to us.

We will send the class "Whale Safe Habits" stickers they can put on their reusable water bottles! One of us could also jump on Zoom and talk with them for a few minutes about what they did and what it meant to them.

Anything your class is inspired to do, we would love to celebrate it, feel free to email team@thewhalemobile.com or text us pictures of their efforts. (617-838-2646)
