When Cynde was a child, she was fascinated by whales. That passion grew into the desire to take action to protect the ocean environment. We know so much more about what is happening to our planet and the oceans now, that kids at a much younger age can begin making a difference!
Following a program from The Whalemobile this year, students and families are encouraged to do a project that can help the oceans or the planet. It might be starting to recycle. It might be committing to not buying plastic water bottles. It might be cleaning a park. It might be banning plastic bags in your town. Perhaps you have a lemonade stand and donate the profits to a non-profit that it saving the ocean. It can be something small or something big. We want to celebrate those actions and projects.
At the end of August, we will have a virtual summer showcase where we will highlight all the amazing things people are doing for the planet. We encourage you to submit a video of your project (up to 5 minutes). Tell us:
We look forward to seeing the amazing things that happen!!
This is a thought bridge. It's hard to jump to I'm protecting whales by doing ________. (Especially if you live in the middle of the country.) But, if you start at the left side and work your way to the right side, each step you are taking and action you are making is working to protect whales and our planet! We just need to take a step!
