Step One
Prepare in the Classroom
Before we arrive, students watch an age-appropriate preview video that introduces them to whales, ocean science, and what to expect during their Whalemobile visit. Teachers receive the video ahead of time and can show it whenever it fits best into their classroom schedule.

Step Two
One Class at a Time
We work with one class at a time, giving every group a 40-minute Whalemobile experience with plenty of opportunities to participate, ask questions, and explore.

Step Three
20 Minutes Inside the Whale
Students step inside Nile, our life-sized inflatable humpback whale, to explore whale anatomy and adaptations through real artifacts and stories from our experienced whale watch naturalists.

Step Four
Take Classroom Science into the Ocean
After exploring inside Nile, students spend 20 minutes taking classroom science into the ocean. Through hands-on, grade-level activities, they use whales and ocean ecosystems to strengthen concepts they are already learning in school.
It depends on your space! If we’re set up in the gym for the full day, we can usually see more classes — up to 22 is our record! If we need to break down for lunch, that reduces the number of sessions.
The whale is approximately 43 feet long and requires a large indoor space. Our team will help determine if your venue is suitable before booking.
We tailor the experience for all grade levels, from kindergarten through high school. 2nd through 5th grade is a particular sweet spot—students are at an age where we can really dive into the science and connect the experience to what they’re already learning in the classroom.
Unfortunately, no. Our programs are indoors only. Wind, heat, and rain can all affect the inflatable whale, and because the weather is unpredictable, we don’t book outdoor programs. An indoor space ensures Nile can be set up safely and your program can happen as planned.
